Evidence-Based Skill Validation
The end of keyword-stuffed shortlists.

CVSense® EBSV is our proprietary CV screening engine. For every required skill, EBSV scores the actual evidence in the CV — not how many times a candidate sprinkled the keyword.

What EBSV does that no other ATS does

Tri-state classification

Every required skill is scored as Evidenced, Claimed or Missing. No more 0–100 black-box scores.

Contextual false-skill detection

EBSV reads the surrounding context — projects, tenure, role responsibilities — to flag skills that are name-dropped but never used.

Defensible written reasoning

Every classification comes with the supporting evidence quoted from the CV. Audit-ready, regulator-ready, hiring-manager-ready.

Built for regulated hiring

Purpose-built for NHS, Civil Service, healthcare, finance and any sector where shortlist decisions must be defended.

Catches CV padding

Surfaces the 'keyword-stuffing' patterns junior or desperate candidates use to game legacy ATSs.

Works on any CV format

PDF, DOCX, scanned-text PDFs, free-form or structured — EBSV reads what's there.

Inside an EBSV scoring pass

  1. 1

    Extract the requirement set

EBSV parses the JD, essential and desirable criteria into a normalised requirement set.

  2. 2

    Read the CV in context

Every requirement is searched in the CV with full contextual understanding — projects, roles, dates, qualifications.

  3. 3

    Classify each requirement

Tri-state output per requirement: Evidenced / Claimed / Missing — with the supporting CV evidence attached.

  4. 4

    Score & explain

EBSV produces an overall fit score plus written reasoning so the recruiter can defend the decision.

EBSV — FAQs

What is Evidence-Based Skill Validation (EBSV)?+

EBSV is CVSense's proprietary CV screening engine. For every required skill in a job description, EBSV examines the CV for supporting evidence — projects, dates, outcomes, qualifications, employment history — and classifies the skill as Evidenced, Claimed (mentioned without evidence) or Missing.

How is EBSV different from keyword-based ATS scoring?+

Legacy ATSs count how often a keyword appears in a CV. EBSV instead asks: is there evidence the candidate has actually used this skill? It catches CVs that name-drop technologies without demonstrating use, distinguishes a one-off mention from years of hands-on experience, and surfaces the strongest candidates regardless of how their CV is written.

Can EBSV detect CV fraud or padding?+

EBSV flags skills that are claimed without any supporting evidence in the CV — the classic 'keyword-stuffing' pattern. While only a human or formal background check can prove fraud, EBSV gives recruiters a clear, defensible signal of which claims need verifying.

Is EBSV biased?+

EBSV scores on the requirements you set against the evidence in the document — not on demographic signals. It surfaces written reasoning that recruiters can audit, and it is governed by our published AI Ethical Policy.

Is EBSV available to other ATSs or third parties?+

EBSV is proprietary to CVSense®. It is available exclusively through the CVSense AI CV screening platform and integrations.
